Brown, pink, green and white noise
Brown noise made live on your phone. Never loops, never clicks. No ads.
A deep, steady sound to fall asleep to and to cover the noise around you. Free every night, with no time limit.

The four fixes
What people hate about noise apps, fixed.
We read over a thousand reviews of other noise apps. The same complaints came up again and again. Brown Noise is built around fixing them.
Never loops
Most apps play a recording on repeat. Sooner or later you hear the seam: a click, a gap, the same whoosh again. Brown Noise makes the sound live on your phone, so every second is new.
Keeps playing with the screen locked
Lock your phone and put it down. The sound keeps going until you stop it, or until the sleep timer fades it out. Play and pause from the lock screen.
No ads
Nothing loud breaks in at 3 a.m. No ads now, and no ads later.
No account
No sign-up, no quiz, no email. It opens straight to play and works in airplane mode. Nothing about your listening leaves your phone.
Pick your sound
Four colors of noise. Each one free.
There's no right answer. Try each one and keep the one you like. Mixing them together is part of Pro. Not sure what the colors mean? Here's the difference.
Brown noise
Deep and soft. Like the inside of a plane at night. The favorite for sleep. The app has a deep brown too.
Pink noise
Lighter, like steady rain. Softer than white, brighter than brown.
Green noise
The calm middle of the sound. No deep rumble, no bright hiss.
White noise
Bright and crisp. The classic fan and static sound. Good for covering voices.

Questions
Short answers.
Is it really free?
Yes. Every color plays free, all night, with no time limit and no ads. Pro is an optional upgrade for mixing, depth and saved mixes.
What does “made live” mean?
A recording has to end and start again, and that seam is the click or gap people notice at 2 a.m. Brown Noise works out the sound as it plays, so there is no seam to hear. You can try the same idea on our web player.
Does it keep playing with the screen off?
Yes. Lock your phone and it keeps playing until you stop it or the sleep timer ends. You can play and pause from the lock screen.
Is it on iPhone?
Not yet. The iPhone app is coming soon. Until then, the web player works in Safari.
Will it help me sleep?
Lots of people fall asleep to steady noise and use it to cover sounds that wake them. Research on noise and sleep is still early, so we don't promise results. Here's what the studies say. Try it for a few nights and judge for yourself.
Can I use it for my baby?
Many parents do. Keep the volume low, keep the phone across the room, and use the sleep timer. Read our tips for babies.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. The sound is made on your phone, so it works in airplane mode.
Do you collect my data?
No. There's no account, no ads and no tracking. Read the privacy policy.
Hear it right now.
The free web player makes brown, pink, green and white noise live in your browser. Nothing to install.
